Privacy Policy

Effective October 26, 2026

This website, jondestin.com, is run by Friends of Jon Destin for Albany City Council 2026 (FPPC ID# 1492565), the campaign committee for Jon Destin's run for Albany City Council (“the campaign,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what information we collect through this site, how we use and store it, and how to contact us.

Information you give us

When you fill out a form on this site, we collect what you enter. Depending on the form, that may include:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, and ZIP code
  • A street address, if you ask for a yard sign or offer to host an event
  • Messages and comments you send us
  • How you'd like to help, events or shifts you sign up for, and dates you prefer

If you sign up for text updates, we collect your mobile phone number, your first and last name if you choose to give them, whether you checked the consent box, the date and time you signed up, and the version of the consent language you agreed to.

Information collected automatically

This site is hosted by Netlify, and our forms are stored using Netlify's form service. Like most web hosts, Netlify may record technical information when you visit or submit a form, such as your IP address, browser type, and the page you came from. This site also loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers when you visit.

Donations

Card donations are processed by ActBlue on its own website, and Venmo payments are handled by Venmo. Their privacy policies apply to what you enter there. California law requires the campaign to collect and report certain contributor information, such as name, address, occupation, and employer for contributions of $100 or more. Campaign finance reports are public records.

How we use your information

  • To respond to you and follow up on what you asked for, such as volunteering, yard signs, events, and meet-and-greets
  • To send campaign updates you asked to receive
  • To send text messages, only if you opted in to our text program
  • To organize the campaign's voter outreach
  • To meet legal requirements, including campaign finance reporting

Text messaging program

We enroll a mobile number in our text program only when the consent box on the sign-up form is checked. Consent is not a condition of purchase or donation.

Mobile numbers, SMS opt-in information, and consent will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

We may share this information with service providers that help us operate the text messaging program, such as our messaging platform and website host, solely so they can operate the program for us.

Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Full details are in our SMS Terms & Conditions.

How we share information

We share information with service providers that help us run the campaign, such as our website host and the tools we use to manage supporter and voter outreach, so they can perform those services for us. We may also disclose information when required by law. Contributor information is reported publicly as described above.

How we store information

Form submissions are stored in the campaign's Netlify account. Text program sign-ups are also kept in the platform we use to send text messages. This site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection.

Your choices

  • To stop text messages, reply STOP to any message.
  • To stop other campaign messages, or to ask us to update or delete your information, email jon@jondestin.com.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date above.
